Docker Brewery launches “Homegrown” — a beer rooted in regeneration and community

Docker Brewery is proud to announce the release of Homegrown (4.5%), a new session IPA brewed with Wildfarmed malt and hops grown by the Hythe Hops community project. The beer launches on Saturday 18 October at Docker Brewery & Taproom, Park Farm, Folkestone.

This release marks an exciting milestone for Docker — and for sustainable brewing in the UK — as Homegrown becomes the brewery’s first official beer made with Wildfarmed malt.

Wildfarmed was founded in 2018 by Andy Cato (of Groove Armada), Edd Lees, and George Lamb with a mission to transform the way we grow food. Their regenerative farming model works with nature, not against it — producing wheat and malt that restore soil health, support biodiversity, and taste better too.

Earlier this year, Docker Bakery joined the Wildfarmed network, using their regenerative flour in its sourdough breads. Now, Docker Brewery is extending that partnership — becoming part of a small but growing group of breweries across the UK using Wildfarmed malt to brew beer that’s better for people and the planet.

“Wildfarmed represents everything we believe in,” says Pete Nelson, co-founder of Docker Brewery. “We’ve been baking with their flour so to now brew with their malt closes the loop — from field to glass. It’s about sustainability, flavour, and community.”

The name Homegrown also celebrates the local growers of Hythe Hops, a voluntary community project connecting gardeners and brewers across Folkestone, Hythe, and Romney Marsh. Each member grows hops in their gardens or allotments, which are harvested and given to local breweries like Docker to create unique, low-carbon beers.

“Hythe Hops embodies what we love about local beer — people coming together to grow, share, and create,” adds Pete Nelson, co-founder of Docker. “This beer wouldn’t exist without them.”

Homegrown (4.5% session IPA) is a crisp, easy-drinking beer with notes of citrus and spice from locally grown Cascade and Bullion hops. It will be available from Saturday 18 October at:

  • Docker Brewery & Taproom, Park Farm, Folkestone

  • Docker Bar, Sandgate

  • Docker Bakery, Folkestone & Ashford

  • The Goods Shed, Canterbury

  • Macknade, Faversham

  • Sandgate Village Shop

  • County Fayre, Hythe

Members of the Hythe Hops project will each receive a complimentary can of Homegrown as a thank-you for their contribution.
