19-27th June 2021
For this year’s English Wine Week, we will be releasing a new still wine vintage at Gusbourne, as well as adding a special wine to our tasting line up for all of our tour and tastings that week. We will also be hosting a five-course tasting menu on 25th June paired with wines from the six producers that make up the Wine Garden of England.
Wine Launch
Our single-vineyard Chardonnay 809 2019 (RRP £25) will be released on Thursday, 24th June to celebrate English Wine Week. This wine was produced for the first time in 2018 from the 809 ‘musque’ Chardonnay clone. This clonal variety comes from our Bottom Camp vineyard in Kent and displays a truly interesting and unique profile of flavours more commonly associated with the Muscat grape. It spent 14 days in stainless steel and also saw some barrel ageing in 10% new French oak.
Of Chardonnay 809 2019, Head Winemaker Charlie Holland says, “This is a really interesting Chardonnay. On the nose you’ll get a Muscat aroma – somewhere between Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier. But on the palate, it has that signature Chardonnay acid delivering elegance, freshness and structure. It’s fresh and blossomy, almost tropical, with a pleasing roundness from the barrel ageing in new French oak.”

The Nest
As a special treat for English Wine Week, our exclusive Nest Selection 2014 will be served as an additional wine for all of our tours and tastings. This extra-special pour is only available to purchase by Gusbourne Reserved members or from The Nest and does not usually feature in any of our tastings, so this is truly a rare treat!
Nest Selection 2014 will also be served on our new weekday lunches as an additional welcome drink for English Wine Week. At the Gusbourne lunch, guests are seated at their own private table where our staff introduce them to three of our sparkling wines as an aperitif. A seasonal menu of delicious small plates is then served, and guests have the option of purchasing a bottle or a glass of their favourite wine to accompany lunch.
Finally, on Friday 25th June, we are hosting an outstanding five-course dinner event paired with wines from six of Kent's finest wine estates that make up the Wine Garden of England. Guests will savour some of the finest local wines, alongside some of the best local food at this unique event.
