15th April 2026
Running from 11 April to 1 August 2026, this solo show celebrates a Kent artist whose watercolours hang in collections across Europe and the UK.
Chartham Vineyard is pleased to welcome back Geoffrey Sainsbury, this time for a solo exhibition of his watercolour paintings.
Geoffrey's story is one of quiet dedication. After leaving school in 1972 with an O level in art, he painted only occasionally and purely for fun. It was a painting holiday in the South of France in 2001 that changed everything - the sunshine and shadow of the landscape inspired him to take watercolours seriously. Today he works from his own photographs, sketches and memory in his home studio, and even makes his own frames.
A former head gardener at Olantigh in Wye, Geoffrey now works there part-time - giving himself the space to paint that his talent deserves. In the 25 years since that first painting holiday, he has sold hundreds of works, with watercolours now hanging in private collections across Europe and the UK.
The exhibition runs from 11 April to 1 August 2026. During your visit, pop into the vineyard shop next door for a free tasting of all Chartham's wines.
