Plus a new Flavour of the Month cruffin and extra market days at Sandwich*
June is a busy month at Gilda Bakery, the Bishopsbourne-based bakery known for its sourdough, pastries and community spirit. With Father's Day on the horizon, the bakery has turned a classic into something entirely its own: a Cake Bun inspired by coffee and walnut cake, layering rich coffee mousse, toasted walnuts and coffee-soaked sponge into one indulgent bake. It's a fitting tribute for dads who appreciate a proper treat.
Alongside the Father's Day special, June also brings Gilda's Flavour of the Month: a Pistachio and Raspberry Cruffin combining pistachio praline, raspberry jam and pistachio crème pâtissière. Sweet, nutty and just tart enough, it's the kind of seasonal bake that's become a hallmark of the bakery's ever-changing cruffin selection.
There's good news too for regulars at Sandwich Market: Gilda Bakery will now be trading there every Thursday as well as its usual Saturday slot, giving local fans twice the chance to pick up their favourites. Back at the bakery in Bishopsbourne, Sunday Charcuterie continues to bring salamis, pâtés and terrines to the shelves throughout the week, and Gilda's own aprons and tees are back in stock for anyone wanting to take a little of the bakery home with them.
For those keen to get hands-on, Gilda's sourdough classes remain a brilliant way to learn the craft of real bread, designed to suit complete beginners and seasoned home bakers alike.
