For the part of you that carries everything...
I didn't set out to make a foot balm.
But I kept being asked. By tired mums at markets. By people who'd been on their feet all day. By women who told me, slightly sheepishly, that they genuinely couldn't remember the last time they'd paid any attention to their own feet. And I kept thinking about what I know about the feet - about what they carry, and what happens when we finally tend to them.
Because here's the thing that the reflexology charts don't always mention, but that I find endlessly fascinating: the feet hold grief. They hold the weight of days you pushed through when you should have stopped, the tension of hard conversations, the low hum of anxiety that lives just below conscious thought. In somatic therapy and body-centred healing, the legs and feet are known to carry suppressed emotions - particularly fear, and the particular exhaustion of carrying too much.
This is why people cry during reflexology. Not because their feet hurt. Because something releases.
Barefoot Balm was made for that release. Black spruce - one of the most grounding essential oils I work with - anchors the blend, alongside cypress for circulation and flow, lavender for the mind, chamomile and palmarosa for comfort and renewal. Shea butter, castor oil, and avocado oil soften and repair the skin that's been carrying you all day.
Five minutes at the end of the day. Warm the balm between your palms, work it slowly into your arches, breathe. That's all it takes to send your whole nervous system the message it's been waiting for: the day is done. You can come down now.
It's my best seller. I understand why.
