January Walks & Winter Warmers at Bluebells

Ancient landscapes, fresh air and a very good lunch waiting at the end

Kick off the new year with a bracing walk in Bluebell Hill Village, one of the highest points on the North Downs, known for its sweeping views across the Medway Valley and its quietly impressive prehistoric landscape.

A popular route takes in Kits Coty House, a 5,000-year-old Neolithic chambered tomb, along with nearby ancient sites such as Little Kits Coty and the Countless Stones. It’s a reminder that people have been walking these hills, gathering and sharing food here for millennia — long before January resolutions were a thing.

Once you’ve stretched your legs (and properly exercised the dog), head back to Bluebells for a well-earned reward. We’re proudly dog-friendly, happy with muddy boots, and big believers in food that actually hits the spot in winter. Expect hearty soups, golden sausage rolls and comforting plates that make cold days feel far more inviting.

And if your new year intentions include a little more movement, Fridays are for dancing — shake it till tea time and your meal’s on us.

🐾 Bring the dog, the walking boots and the appetite.
👉 Visit Bluebells and make a day of it.
