Lauren Edwards MP Helps Local Brewery Moot Brew Co to Showcase Its American Pale Ale in House of Commons ‘Strangers’ Bar’

Following the collaboration of Lauren Edwards MP, Moot Brew Co, and House of Commons staff, Moot Brewery - a popular brewery based in Halling in the Rochester and Strood constituency - will soon be on tap in the Palace of Westminster. As of yesterday (09/12), Moot’s ‘Plush’, an American Pale Ale, will be served in the Strangers’ Bar over the Christmas period.

Strangers’ Bar, a venue often frequented by MPs, journalists, and high-profile guests, will feature Moot’s American Pale Ale, giving Parliament a taste of Kent and Medway’s thriving independent brewing scene.

Lauren Edwards MP said:

“I’m really excited to showcase a fantastic local beer here in Parliament. Patrick and the team at Moot Brewery are a brilliant example of entrepreneurship in Rochester and Strood. I’m a regular visitor to their brewery in Halling and know they produce beer of great quality. Supporting independent breweries is not just about great beer though - it’s about backing local jobs and the local visitor economy too. I look forward to sharing a pint of Plush with that knowledge in mind.”

Patrick Smith, Director of Moot Brew Co, added:

“We’re incredibly proud to see Plush, our newest American Pale Ale, pouring in the historic Strangers’ Bar. As a small independent brewery, having our beer showcased in Parliament is a real privilege for our team and an opportunity to put the village of Halling on the map. We’re grateful for the continued support from our local MP, whose passion for championing independent breweries and other local enterprises means a great deal to businesses like ours. Plush represents the craftsmanship and commitment to quality that drives everything we do at Moot Brewery, and we’re thrilled to share a pint of it with Westminster”.

Barry Watts, Head of Policy and Public Affairs at the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA), said:

“This initiative is part of a long-standing tradition of showcasing local independent breweries in Parliament and it’s great that MPs will get to try beer from one of Kent and Medway’s up and coming breweries. Moot Brew produces a huge range of innovative and exciting beers and I’m sure that Plush will be enjoyed by MPs from across the UK.”

This collaboration is all about celebrating local talent and giving Moot Brew Co the chance to share its craftsmanship with Parliament, shining a spotlight on Medway and Kent’s thriving independent brewing scene.
