Meet Alex and Alastair: The Story Behind White Horse Wine Tours

How two former NHS nurses turned a love of Kent's vineyards into a new way to explore the county

Every new business has a story, and the one behind White Horse Wine Tours starts in the corridors of A&E. Alex and Alastair met whilst working in A&E in London, where the fast pace, high nursing needs environment and great team work brought them together. They moved to Kent almost a decade ago, and with over 25 years of combined experience in emergency nursing between them, caring for people has always been at the centre of what they do. It was only after settling in Kent that they discovered just how many talented winemakers were quietly producing bottles that could stand alongside some of the best in the world, often without the recognition they deserve.

The idea for White Horse Wine Tours grew out of a birthday trip around a local vineyard. What should have been a simple day out highlighted just how difficult Kent's vineyards can be to reach without your own transport, and how expensive existing options could be. Alex and Alastair saw an opportunity to bring people closer to the county's wine scene in a way that felt accessible, relaxed and genuinely good value.

That same instinct for care, born from years in clinical practice, now shapes every part of the White Horse Wine Tours experience. There is no polished wine jargon or intimidating tastings, just an introduction to passionate makers, beautiful places and wines that create genuine excitement from the very first sip. Above all, Alex and Alastair are committed to championing independent, family run vineyards that share their own values of quality and community.
