How a family holiday and a love of Kent's events scene led to a beautifully styled ice cream business
Every business starts with an idea, and for Licks & Sips it began on a family holiday, eating ice cream, as these things often do. Back home in Faversham, the realisation hit: despite all the brilliant events the town hosts, you could not get really good quality ice cream anywhere nearby. By the time the family got home, that spark had become a plan, and the plan became Licks & Sips.
Meet Laura, the founder and self-styled Chief of Scoops. For Laura, ice cream is one of life's small pleasures, a treat loved by almost everyone, with a way of bringing people together, even complete strangers, over a shared moment. That idea, that the best celebrations are built from small, joyful details, sits at the heart of everything Licks & Sips does.
At the centre of it all is the Pashley No.33 tricycle, a classic English-built design with timeless charm. Fully mobile and powered by its own battery freezer, it is designed to be a distinctive focal point at any gathering, whether that is a market stall in Faversham, a festival field, or a wedding reception.
From scooping for market customers to serving wedding guests, Laura's goal is simple: to make people feel happy, welcome and looked after, one scoop at a time.
