Our latest NETWORK AND… event took us to the beautiful Chartham Vineyard near Canterbury, where members gathered for an evening of wine, stories and connection in a truly special setting.
Despite a run of unpredictable weather in the days leading up to the event, we were lucky on the night. It stayed dry, even if it was a little chilly, and made for a perfect early spring evening among the vines.
Hosted by Roz and Richard, we were welcomed into their charming former cow barn gallery, complete with original feeding troughs and full of character. It set the tone for an evening that blended history, creativity and modern winemaking.
Roz led us on a short tour of the site, starting at the vineyard’s ancient dovecote, a scheduled monument that now forms part of the Chartham Vineyard logo. From there, we crossed over to the vines themselves, where we heard more about the landscape, the growing process and the care that goes into producing their wines.
Back in the Great Barn, it was time to warm up with a fantastic spread of sandwiches from Lily’s Social Kitchen, before settling in for the tasting.
Richard guided us through a selection of their wines, sharing insight into each one as we went. The line-up included Pinot Gris, Bacchus, Rosé, Blanc de Blancs and Rosé de Noir, showcasing both their still and sparkling range.
As always, the conversation flowed just as easily as the wine. Members spent the rest of the evening catching up, making new connections and chatting further with Roz and Richard about their vineyard, their philosophy and what’s next.
A huge thank you to Roz and Richard for hosting us so warmly, and for sharing both their story and their wines with us.
It was a brilliant evening and a great reminder of the strength of Kent’s wine community.
Our NETWORK AND… events are for Produced in Kent Members and Industry Partners only. If you’d like to join us at future events, now’s the time to get involved.
