Squash, Roots and an Award-Winning Community – Autumn at Lenham Country Market

Freshly crowned Gold winner of Kent Food & Drink Market of the Year 2026 at the Taste of Kent Awards, Lenham Country Market is a celebration of the autumn harvest, and of everything a great local market can be.

Autumn is the season of proper, satisfying produce. Squash and pumpkins arrive in their extraordinary variety, parsnips and root vegetables are sweetened by the first cold nights, and the hedgerow fruits that ripened slowly through late summer are turned into jams, jellies and chutneys. It’s the time of year when cooking becomes genuinely exciting again, when you want to be in the kitchen, not avoiding it.

Lenham Country Market takes place on the second Sunday of every month, between 9am and 1pm, in Lenham Village Square, ME17 2PQ. The next market is on Sunday 8 November. The market celebrated its 25th anniversary in October 2025, and has now marked 26 years of bringing producers and customers together in one of Kent’s most beautiful village settings. That is a remarkable achievement, and one that reflects the loyalty and passion of everyone who has been part of it.

The market has an impressive track record. It has just won Gold for Kent Food & Drink Market of the Year 2026 at the Taste of Kent Awards, adding to its earlier Gold and Bronze recognition there. It also won Farmers Market of the Year at the Farm Retail Association Awards in March 2025, and was featured on BBC One’s The Farmers’ Country Showdown in 2023. But more than any award, what makes Lenham special is the atmosphere – the sense of a genuine community gathering, where people know the producers they’re buying from and trust what they’re putting on their tables.

Autumn is a particularly rich time to visit. You’ll find seasonal root vegetables and squash alongside local honey, freshly caught and smoked salmon, locally grown mushrooms, microgreens, loose leaf teas, artisan bread, olives and deli produce, fresh fish, local wines, handmade soaps, alpaca knitwear, game, meats and pies, and freshly squeezed juices. Our jams and preserves stall is there every month, and autumn is one of the best times to stock up, with seasonal chutneys and jellies made from the harvest. Apple and ginger chutney, beetroot chutney, quince jelly, damson jam – it’s the time of year our range really comes into its own.

If you’ve been meaning to visit Lenham Country Market, this autumn is the perfect moment to start.
