Westerham Farm Shop Champion Local Produce

Squerryes Flint and Oak in Westerham[/caption] A FARM shop and deli championing the very best of local produce from Kent, Sussex and Surrey has officially launched in Westerham. Flint & Oak has transformed from a specialist asparagus pop-up shop to a fully-fledged store at the Gateway to the Garden of England with an impressive 75 per cent of its stock sourced from local farmers and artisans. Housed in a sympathetically-converted old milking parlour, the well-stocked shop boasts a broad range of prized, regional produce from cheese, charcuterie and dairy products to fresh bread, fruit and vegetables as well as locally-sourced jars and pantry essentials. A cosy café bar, along with an al fresco café for the summer months with spectacular views of the local Squerryes’ vineyard, also allows Flint & Oak customers to sample a range of products on offer, including fine grind coffees from Sevenoaks, local teas, deli light bites and locally-baked, mouthwatering cakes. Produce changes regularly and seasonally with all undergoing a scrupulous taste test by staff before making it to the shelves. Current favourites include strawberries from Ightham, fresh sourdough loaves from Sheffield Park, Brighton Blue cheese and exquisite summer gin from the Surrey Hills. James Osborn, general manager of Flint & Oak said of the new venture: “Flint & Oak started out as a pop up shop last summer but has flourished thanks to an amazing show of support from local customers, who clearly share our passion for fine and delicious food – as well as our pride in this corner of England and what it has to offer. “We are proud to say 75 per cent of what we sell is locally sourced from Kent, Sussex, Surrey and London and is produced by some extraordinary people who share the same love of food and drink that we do, are obsessed about the tradition of making, are proud of where they live and are determined to produce better. “We are incredibly lucky here on the Kent Surrey border to have a great wealth of quality local and fresh produce on our doorstep and through this new venture we will continue to support and show off the best of what this bountiful corner of England has to offer.” For more information, please visit www.flintandoak.co.uk.
