Who are TrAles of the Unexpected?

We’re Don and John, and one client recently described our walking beer adventures as “genius”!

We lead small group walks in East Kent for up to eight people recounting famous and lesser-known historic events, with beer, ale and cider tastings from local breweries along the way. Rather than reciting a script, we’ll share engaging stories with passion and encourage you to join the conversation.

What can you expect from our autumn tours? With the hop harvest in full swing, you’ll have opportunities to sample Kent’s distinctive green hop beers. Some brewers use traditional East Kent Goldings, while others experiment with new varieties grown in the county. As the days shorten, we’ll also showcase hearty porters and robust stouts. Along the way, we’ll explore local history and, we hope, reveal something unexpected. One TrAle review captures the experience perfectly: “Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and clearly passionate, not just about Canterbury’s past, but also about the variety of beers we sampled along the way”.

Every TrAle starts and finishes near public transport - trains, buses or both. There are TrAles in Canterbury, Deal, Dover, Whitstable and along The White Cliffs of Dover and The Pilgrims Way. The price includes all beers and the guided tour, plus lunch on our longer adventures, making it excellent value for a day out. We can accommodate non-beer drinkers and create bespoke TrAles for private groups - just ask what we can offer.
