Wild Box Canterbury: why every cocktail starts with a conversation with a Kent producer

The mobile bar and cocktail specialist uses locally produced spirits, wines, and ingredients - and founder Laura Taylor visits every supplier to understand what she's pouring

Most bars buy from a catalogue. Wild Box does it differently. For founder Laura Taylor, every cocktail on the Wild Box menu - whether served at a wedding in the Kentish countryside, a corporate event in London, or across the bar at Fenwick Canterbury - starts with an ingredient sourced from a Kent producer. That commitment to local provenance isn't a marketing line. It's the reason Wild Box exists.

Laura's background is in mobile bars - over ten years working for Shepherd Neame, Britain's oldest brewery, before founding Wild Box in 2019. That experience gave her a deep knowledge of what makes a well-run bar, but it also sharpened her sense of what was missing from the Kent events market. Exceptional spirits, wines, and artisan ingredients were being made all around her, and almost none of it was finding its way into the cocktails being served at the county's events. Wild Box was her answer to that gap.

The approach is hands-on. Laura visits her suppliers regularly - not just to place orders, but to understand what's new, what's changing, how the product is made, and what it should be paired with. That knowledge flows directly into the menus Wild Box creates for each client. A bespoke cocktail menu for a wedding isn't just about picking flavours the couple like. It's about finding the right Kent gin, the right locally grown botanicals, the right seasonal fruit to bring something genuinely of this place to the most important day of someone's life.

The philosophy extends to everything on the menu. Alongside the cocktails, Wild Box's bar at Fenwick Canterbury carries a carefully curated selection of Kent wines, local beers, and artisan juices. The aim is a drinks list that could only exist in Kent - one that reflects the quality and variety of what this county produces, and gives visitors a reason to discover something new every time they visit.

"Laura's creativity and passion shine through in every aspect of the business," reads the Wild Box website. It's not an overstatement. The provenance story is the product. Discover more at wildboxevents.co.uk.
