In June discover more about one of our fantastic Kent towns – maybe Sandwich or Tenterden or Sevenoaks? Here’s a story from Sandwich …
Way back in the year 1255 a very strange cargo was unloaded at the quayside in the port of Sandwich ... an elephant! The elephant was walked from Sandwich to the King’s Zoo in The Tower of London. Records show that the walk went without incident - other than when a bull in a field was disturbed by the sight of the elephant and made an attack. With one swift movement the elephant won that particular battle and sadly the bull died immediately. The lesson must be to pick your battles wisely! Order online at www.quiztrail.co.uk
