There’s a special kind of magic in the vineyard as spring starts to arrive in East Brabourne. The first signs of life start to emerge – sap rising in the vines, the first pear trees flowering and birds building nests in the hedgerows.
"Spring always gives us a lift," says Hester Fenwick. "The days get longer, the sun returns, and you can feel the vineyard stretching awake."
It’s a busy time for Paul and Hester, trying to finish the pruning before bud break. The family – including reluctant teenagers – can often be spotted pruning or hauling compost, sometimes under the watchful eyes of their geese.
It’s also a lovely time to visit. Bring a coat, book a tasting or tour, and enjoy the peaceful buzz of a garden waking up for the year. The daffodils look stunning and you might spot the bees stretching their wings and collecting the first pollen of the new season.
Our wines reflect the season too – fresh, crisp, full of promise. And if you’re starting to think about Easter or spring gifting, our gift vouchers are a thoughtful way to share the Brabourne experience.

The joy of a small vineyard is that much of the work can be done by hand, by the family.
