Macknade Fine Foods has been named Kent’s Best Farm Shop & Deli in Kent. With over 10,000 votes cast across numerous categories, the Faversham based food hall came up trumps in the Muddy Stilettos 2018 Awards, which celebrate the best local businesses in the UK. It is the third year of the awards, which are voted for by Muddy Stilettos readers, and they are fast gaining momentum, especially amongst the growing readership of women between the age of 30 and 55.
“It was a wonderful surprise!” said Stefano Cuomo, Managing Director at Macknade Fine Foods, who attended the ceremony held at Chapel Down Vineyards on Thursday 24
th May. “We had heard of the awards, but did not realise how well we had been supported by the readers… so to win is fantastic!”.
Macknade is having a bumper awards year, starting as runner up in the Taste of Kent Awards 2018. The famous food hall is also a finalist in the yet to be announced national Food and Travel Awards, and in the Shop of the Year Awards, run by the Guild of Fine Foods. The business, which has been in the same family for over 170 years, is also in the running to be named Family Business of the Year at the National Family Business Awards.
Stefano added, “We have been implementing real change in the layout of our food hall, and our greengrocery and butchery are growing continually. We have a new menu lined up for the café and we will be opening an outside dining area in time for the summer. However, the truth is that Macknade stays the same as it always has, with a real focus on our customers and our wonderful producers. Being nominated for these awards is testament to this and as a team we really appreciate the recognition.”
