Canterbury Spiced Rum and Japanese Jin WINNERS at IWSC 2023

Our Smuggler Sam's Spiced Rum AND Japanese Jin were both awarded Bronze at the IWSC (International Wine and Spirits Competition).

The IWSC is more than a competition. It is a global wine and spirits community, focused on people and expertise. To be recognised in this field is just incredible, we still consider ourselves so tiny in our production and very craft methods but delighted that what we have produced is worthy of such a great award.

As you know we are rare in that we are producing our beers and spirits entirely from scratch - from ingredient to glass.

This is particularly rare in the case of Rum production in the UK.

We can't lie making rum from sugar cane molasses has been challenging but what a discovery.....the IWSC said this "Bitter citrus dominates the nose, with classic clove and cinnamon spice on the palate."

For our dry and distinctive Japanese Jin they said "A citrus nose with sea salt and a squeeze of lemon on the palate. Bright and herbaceous."
