National acclaim for Shepherd Neame pub

The Sportsman in Seasalter has been named among the UK’s 20 best restaurants in the Estrella Damm National Restaurant Awards.

The Shepherd Neame-owned pub, run by brothers Stephen and Phil Harris, took 16th place in the list of the UK’s top 100 restaurants announced last week (August 16).

The Estrella Damm National Restaurant Awards are based on votes cast by chefs, restaurateurs and food writers. Judges wrote of The Sportsman: “Free of faff, it still manages to be a proper pub despite being one of the best places to eat in the UK.”

The Sportsman, which has held a Michelin star since 2008, has been recognised with numerous accolades in recent years, including being named the best gastropub in Britain for a fifth time at the Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastropubs Awards in March.
