New Year on the Estate

Although we are now firmly in the depths of winter, life on the Estate may slow down — but it certainly doesn’t stop.

Our farmers are busy felling trees and processing kindling and logs, which will be carefully stored for several years before making their way to the log boxes at The Potato Shop, and eventually into your homes. While trees are being felled in one part of the farm, new woodlands are being planted in another, ensuring the landscape continues to grow and evolve.

Winter is also an important time for planning and preparation. Work is already underway behind the scenes, from maintaining hedgerows and making sure the Estate is ready for spring when it arrives.

There are still some shoots taking place in January, so if you are walking across the Estate over the next few weeks, please bear this in mind. Although the wild game shooting season will soon be coming to a close, you can find oven-ready pheasants and ducks, as well as venison sausages, steaks, mince and more at The Potato Shop — so if you’re passing by, please do pop in.

If you would like more information about the shoots we run, please visit gunsonpegs.com.

Whilst they might be known for their variety of potatoes, the estate offers a whole lot more.
