After many, many requests Canterbury Brewers & Distillers have made a modern-day Pink Gin. Dry in style, infused with soft red fruits; rhubarb and cherry to create a sweeter profiled gin. It’s a seasonal release from us meaning only one batch has been made for the bar and a small run of bottles and once it’s gone it’s gone! For a more traditional pink gin you could try our Navy strength Torpedo gin with a dash of angostura bitters and lemon….quite the contrast to our modern version. We pride ourselves on no artificial flavouring.

It's that time again and one we always look forward to! Between now and the end of January, our family don their wellies and rifles and set out into the Harty countryside come rain or shine to gather produce for our autumn and winter menus. Expect to see partridge, pheasant, wild duck and pigeon making its way onto the menu, providing the perfect opportunity to try some new flavours. We recently took on the arduous task of testing our affogato with a range of Simply Ice Cream.
Affogato is a traditional, indulgent Italian dessert, and we put our twist on it by using our current decaf coffee, El Tucan from Mexico.
We tested it with some of Simply's best sellers as well as some of their vegan and sorbet options. The results where quite surprising!

Judges’ comments included:
The sauce has notes of soy in the aroma. The flavour is full-bodied with notes of sour, sweet and salty. It is a well-balanced and versatile, delivering the tastes of Pad Thai. It would be an authentic marinade or seasoning or would enhance a stir-fry. It would also work well in mayonnaise.

Jolly Boys Outing... to Herne Bay! Back in 1989 the ‘Only Fools and Horses’ Christmas special episode told the story of the memorable lad’s trip down to Margate. Del Boy, Rodney, Uncle Albert, Trigger, Boycie and the rest of the gang got up to their usual funny mayhem. The story included a stop off half way at a pub ... scenes that were filmed at a former pub in Herne Bay - the Roman Galley. It was where the coach exploded! The pub has since been converted to luxury flats which you can see when you drive east along the Thanet Way.

Since discovering that she, herself, has diabetes, Rosemary Shrager, TV chef, author and owner of Rosemary’s Online Cookery School has been a keen advocate of a reduced sugar diet that is still packed with flavour. However, after looking around, Rosemary was shocked to discover that many no-added sugar varieties were bland and tasteless. So, after contacting The Wooden Spoon Preserving Company, Rosemary decided to produce her own range to show that you don’t need sugar to have a great tasting dish. This ‘no ordinary range’ will initially consist of two high fruit spreads Strawberry & Raspberry and Blackrurrant and two relishes, Chilli Jam and Fig & Apple Chutney
