Canterbury Brewers G Reen Hop Seriously Saison

Two new Green Hop Beers from Canterbury Brewers & Distillers

We are excited to get to the hop fields in the next few weeks to pick fresh hops direct from the field and bring them back to The Foundry to brew with. We’re making our famous Seriously Saison-a 4.5% brew that celebrates the best of the summer and has a robust flavour to match! Huge quantities of the East Kent Goldings green hops, fresh from Syndale Hop Gardens give a powerful punch of the true flavours and aromas of the summer season. We use Belgian saison yeast which adds earthy sweetness and toffied-banana to give some complexity and poise. It finishes with a high bitterness from all those lovely hops. Heed this…..this is our biggest, hoppiest beer of the summer, consider it a warning.

We are also proudly producing a green hop beer with Canterbury Christ Church University with fresh heritage hops grown in the city campus grounds! A glorious mix of East Kent Goldings, Canterbury White Bine, BRAMLING cross and Early Prolific hops will make for the distinctive Holy Academia. We can’t wait for people to come and enjoy both our green hop beers this year….aiming for 27th September 💪🏼

Mc Canns Green Hop 2024

Green Hop time at McCanns & Twisted Wheel

It's green hop time at the brewery, which is always a fun thing, picking some bines from Hukins hop farm in the morning and then adding them to the wort around lunchtime before all the visitors go off for a bit of lunch and some 'sampling' in the taproom, and then a couple of weeks later we'll have that ultra special beer ready for sale.

"Wake me up in September" is going to be a 4% Blonde, green hopped with what we believe to be the best Fuggles on the Planet. You can see a teaser of the artwork above.

Broadstairs Quiz Trail Lady Katherine

Discover Broadstairs with a Quiz Trail, where Princess Katherine of Greece was schooled

A young lady, Katherine, was educated in England in the 1920s - at a boarding school in Broadstairs and then later at North Foreland Lodge, a private boarding school for girls. Prior to this she had lived an unsettled childhood moving between Greece, Switzerland, Sicily and Florence. The child was Princess Katherine of Greece and Denmark. Due to her place in the Greek royal family, she was widely related to much of the European royal families - including being the cousin of the late Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh. The Greek royal family went into exile at times, and it was a tumultuous era for them - throughout her life Katherine remained close to the Greek and British Royal Families. Princess Katherine and the future Queen Elizabeth II were bridesmaids at the wedding of her first cousin, Princess Marina, to Prince George in 1934. Princess Katherine was later a guest at Queen Elizabeth II’s wedding in 1947. When she died in 2007, at the age of 94, Princess Katherine was the last surviving great-granddaughter of Queen Victoria.

Shift Brewer Scott Wilkins selects hops for this years Hop Pocket beer at Parsonage Farm Custom

Shepherd Neame has just unveiled its limited edition green hop ale Hop Pocket (4.5% ABV).

Beer is usually brewed with dried hops, but Hop Pocket is made using fresh green hops which go from farm to brewhouse in a matter of hours, giving it a delicious aroma and earthy kick.

Shepherd Neame’s Shift Brewer Scott Wilkins (image attached) and Filtration Operative Dan Sadler travelled the short distance from the Faversham Brewery to Parsonage Farm, Boughton-under-Blean on August 19 to select and help pick the first hops of the year for the brew with farmer Antony Rudgard-Redsell.

The beer is available from selected Shepherd Neame pubs across Kent, London and the South East while stocks last. https://www.shepherdneame.co.u...
